Most people understand that a proper attic ventilation extends the life of the roof by preventing sheathing from warping while also lowering utility bills.  So it’s no surprise that people install a ridge vent on their roof and think that they’ve properly addressed the venting needs for their home.   What will surprise people is that a ridge vent, although better than no vent, isn’t the solution to properly venting the attic space, but rather it is only part of the solution.  When you use a ridge vent in conjunction with vented soffit you are able to achieve a cyclical balance with air movement which properly removes moisture and high temperatures from your attic thus extending the life of your roof and lowering utility costs.

It’s  not often we are asked about ventilation but at Fine Line Homes we address proper ventilation when building your home so you do not end up with problems down the road.
