The U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have been putting forth an emphasis on Safety for a long time in the Commercial building industry in an attempt to prevent injuries and to save lives. OSHA is now looking more closely into the residential building industry to do the same thing.
This will change the way home builders and subcontractors will need to think about how they do their jobs. First and foremost will be the education of those in the residential business not accustomed to how OSHA works and how to think Safety as part of their every day job performance. There are several training opportunities out there from independent consulting firms but that will be for another day.
