Fall is the time of year all of us here in the northeast start thinking about that dirty four-letter word… SNOW!
This is the time to get your home ready for winter.
You need to review your house inside and out for maintenance, efficiency and safety for the upcoming season. It is time to clean up and take care of items outside that could be damaged or lost when it snows. Clean the leaves out of the gutters. Pack up or stow the patio furniture so it is protected for next year.
It will be some of the last warm enough weather to paint or caulk doors and other outside items to protect them from what is coming. Make sure your walk and driveway is ready for all the holiday visitors that will be showing up.
On the inside check the weather stripping and latches on the doors and windows so the heat is not “going out the window” as they say. Have door mats inside or out to protect the floors and keep people safe from slipping. Find your snow and ice removal supplies and equipment now rather than after you need them.
A little action and planning now will go a long way when the snow shows up… we all know it will.
