The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has approved training classes that help the building industry to gain knowledge of the requirements and regulations of Safety that OSHA is looking for on job sites and at facilities.
First is the 10 hour Construction Health and Safety training course is an overview of the OSHA requirements to help people understand and become aware of the potential hazards that are out there on the job site. The 10 hour class mainly deals with four topics: Fall protection, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Power Tools and Guarding, & Material handling.
Each of these has subsets for example:
- Fall protection deals with several different conditions such as Scaffolds, Stairways, & Ladders.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) covers your personal body protection such as Eyewear, Hard Hats, Footwear, & Hearing protection.
- Power tools & Guarding covers all the different type of power and hand tools and the safe guards that are provided and how a person should never take a tool for granted.
- Material Handling demonstrates the proper way to Use, Store, & Disposal of Materials.
