In today’s world where messages are transmitted at ever increasing speeds, only to be deleted almost as quickly, is it really important? I’d hazard a guess that it depends upon the nature of the message, who is sending it, who is receiving it, etc. Purely from my observation, it appears that a hierarchy has formed with respect to the level of tolerances whereby text messaging has no boundaries, emails are expected to be more structured but usually not proofed before sending, and the standby written messages (letters, memos, print ads, etc.) adhere to the standards we all learned in school.
Wuold you tihnk any lses of soemone who snet you a mesasge taht had splelnig erorrs or wolud you chlak it up to the fnigres not kepeing up wtih the mnid as they wree tyipng the mesasge. I am a fan of proper spelling and feel it helps convey a message in a professional way. A word of thanks to Rick Henry for his efforts in keeping out website current, educational, and professional.

I think it is interesting how home plans have changed over the years. Even more interesting is how our needs have changed. While we still have the basic need for shelter and a place to store our stuff, our home is so much more than that, it is a retreat at the end of the day when we want to de-stress, a dwelling place that reflects who we are and how we live, and even a place to work. Now more than ever people are working from home, either part-time or full-time; we now have the technology and flexibility to do so.
Incorporating a Home Office into your floor plan involves both function and aesthetics. Things to consider when planning this space would be what it is going to be used for, how elaborate it needs to be and a feasible location. It can be as simple as taking a closet or nook and making it a place to house your laptop and printer. A small office like this could also be integrated into your kitchen cabinet layout and would work for paying bills, monitoring your child’s internet activity, and would be convenient for pulling up recipes online. However, if you are trying to work out of a Home Office and need a quiet area where you can spread out paperwork with minimal distractions or even have clients coming to your office, a separate room with a dedicated workspace is a good idea, not to mention the tax benefits.
No matter what space you decide to use for your Home Office, consider the following: no matter how large or small your office is, if it is well organized it will not feel cramped and cluttered; making sure it has adequate light and even a view of nature will inspire you to get work done; and an attractive color palette and family photos will personalize your space and make it feel like home, which will make it feel less like work.

How do you like to entertain? Formal or informal, quiet conversations or game and movie nights, your entertaining preferences play a big role in determining the home that’s just right for you.
One of the hallmarks of today’s homeplans is a more “open” layout, with the eating area, kitchen and great room all open to each other, so that everyone is part of the fun. An open floor plan really pulls entertaining or family life together.
More than just eliminating walls, today’s kitchens are being designed with attention to views from the kitchen of fireplaces, entertainment centers, etc. Open designs have also focused new attention on views into the kitchen. This has been one reason for the rising popularity of stainless steel appliances and glass front cabinets facing the adjoining space(s).
Finally, it’s inevitable when friends get together that someone else in the home needs privacy—whether studying, catching up on work brought home, or needing to get some sleep. Splitting secondary bedrooms from the owner’s suite, and distancing bedrooms from entertaining areas provide such solace and “quiet” from the ongoing party.

Wouldn’t having a low-maintenance home be “mentally freeing”? We agree, so selecting products used in the construction of your home which are easy to care for is one of “lenses” we use.
Floor coverings are particularly important, because of the long reach. Just as certain carpeting is more stain-resistant, ease of cleaning should be a consideration in tile and hardwood floors, too.
Bathrooms are another area where low-maintenance is critical. One-piece sink/countertops eliminate the seam common to drop-in sinks where bacteria can grow undisturbed. While beautiful, tile (and grout!) present more upkeep issues than fiberglass or other 1-piece tub/shower surrounds and shower pans.
From tilt-in windows for easy cleaning, to longer lasting products that don’t have to be replaced as often, smart choices abound when the goal is reduced maintenance. You might even consider a high-performance air cleaner which traps 99+% of the dust-because you won’t have to dust as often!

Recently the Harrisburg Patriot-News daily newspaper ran a story on what three local homebuilders were doing to weather the current housing market downturn.
Fine Line Homes was selected as on the three and the newspaper spoke with Harrisburg VP John Kerschner and Housing Consultant Bernie Campanella.
Considerable coverage was given to three major programs which Fine Line Homes instituted to help re-assure and support homebuyers in their desire to move ahead and purchase a new home in 2010.
The Mortgage Payment Protection Program, the Rent-To-Own Program and the Zero Percent Mortgage Purchase Program were all explained. Both the Rent-To-Own Program and the Zero Percent Program are still available, click the appropriate link above for more details.
The response from both the general readership of the story and many of our existing homeowners was especially positive. The most oft-repeated remark was of the nature – “Fine Line Homes was the only builder of the 3 who actually designed programs to help the Buyers with programs that could make the home buying decision a little less threatening.”

dyagelMiscellaneous, Tips deck, floor plans, home plans, house plans, outdoor living, outdoor room, patio, porch, sunroom, woman centric home plans
The season’s warmer temperatures are just begging us to spend more time outdoors, so why not? When building your new home, consider the many options for an Outdoor Room. You put so much time planning your indoor space, but often the idea of an Outdoor Room is an afterthought and something you wish you would have considered and acted upon during the construction phase. Many house plans incorporate a porch or patio, but if not, you can always add one. An Outdoor Room will give you more square footage to relax at the end of the day or entertain friends.
Begin by putting some thought into how you will be using the space. Are you looking for an area to curl up and read a book, nestle the family around a fire or enjoy meals outdoors? This will help you decide whether a patio, deck or porch is right for you. And, if you’re looking for an area that you can use more than 6 months out of the year, perhaps a sunroom would best serve your needs. Whatever type of room you choose, the space can be made comfortable with furniture, fabrics and rugs that are water resistant and made for outdoor use. After adding plants and some accessories like candles, a fire pit or even a chiminea, you’ll have an inviting Outdoor Space to enjoy all summer long.

What does the term “custom builder” mean to you? Does it make you all warm and fuzzy on the inside?
Custom builder is a loaded term if you ask me. People generally think of an old experienced man and his son and possibly a few workers building homes using the experience of many years of being in the building trade. Well that may be true, however when you are choosing a builder to build your dream home, don’t be fooled by the little guy.
Checks and Balances
When discussing quality, isn’t it better to have a builder who uses checks and balances to ensure you a quality product? For example, a small builder consisting of the owner and a few workers at best is not always in the position or mindset to inspect their own work the way that a construction foreman will for a larger builder. A foreman will inspect the quality and completeness of the work even before any state mandated inspections are performed. That is something that a larger builder relies on to be efficient and successful. I am not saying that a small builder automatically will not inspect their own work or provide sub par work, but I have heard enough horror stories about small builders closing their doors because of poor quality work, thus leaving the customers high and dry with issues regarding their new home.
As for custom building, a large builder can just as easily, if not more so, provide a customer with fresh ideas and custom home designs as well as letting the customer design as well. When considering building a new home, don’t be fooled by the term “custom builder” and do your homework to find the builder who is right for you.
